One of Britain’s most influential people in HR who engages his audiences with practical, academic insight into key business issues.
Based in London, Professor Furnham is an expert in the area of leadership, employee engagement and what motivates people. As a psychologist, he brings unique insights into businesses to help them understand how people work. He is now in his 21st year as Professor of Psychology at University College, London and is considered one of Britain’s most influential people in Human Resources.
He has also been an Adjunct Professor of Management at the Norwegian School of Management since 2009. He is the founding director of Applied Behavioural Research Associates (ABRA), a psychological consultancy, with clients from over 20 major international companies, including Lloyds Bank, Cathay Pacific Airways, Marks and Spencer and Barclays Bank. He has lectured widely abroad and held scholarships and visiting professorships at, amongst others, the University of New South Wales, the University of the West Indies, the University of Hong Kong and the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
He is a prolific writer of papers, articles in national and international press and of about 70 books, the most celebrated of which are The Talented Manager (2012), Managing People In A Downturn (2011), Bad Apples (2011), Body Language in Business (2010), The Elephant In The Boardroom (2010), People Management in Turbulent Times (2009). He regularly speaks at academic and business conferences, to companies and client events and is noted for his motivational speaking style.
