A moderator with strong, hands-on reporting experience about business in Asia

Karishma Vaswani is the Asia Business Correspondent based in Singapore, covering business and economics news in the region. She is currently a regular presenter of Asia Business Report and Newsday and someone who enters into discussion with the most important and influential people from the world of business and finance, analyzing the key issues of the day. She used to host the show, Talking Business. She is part of a team of presenters who are experts on the issues and developments shaping the way we work, consume and live in the 21st Century.

Prior to moving to Singapore, she covered business and political issues for the BBC in Jakarta, and before this was the first Mumbai-based business correspondent to report for BBC. Karishma has found herself interviewing Indonesian President, Joko Widodo; Indian Central Bank Governor, Raghuram Rajan; Japanese Central Bank Governor, Haruhiko Kuroda;Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President, Jin Liqun. International business leaders interviewed has included Unilever CEO Paul Polman; Russian oligarch and CEO of Rusal, Oleg Deripaska; Chinese CEO of Trina Solar, Gao Jifan; Indian business czar and former Chairman of Tata Corporation, Ratan Tata.

Karishma has moderated various business forums in Jakarta and Singapore focused on business and economics in the Asia region. She moderated the Future Cities Lab event and the World Bank conference in 2018, and has also moderated sessions at the World Economic Forum (Summer Davos). She also moderated the APEC CEO Summit in Da Nang in 2017. Karishma moderated the British Chamber of Commerce's annual Economic Briefing in 2016.

She was educated in Indonesia at the Jakarta International School and went to the UK to study for her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Warwick University. Besides English, she speaks Indonesian, Malay, Hindi, Urdu and French, and is learning Mandarin.
