Dr Mobius is a celebrated veteran in global emerging markets, with over 30 years experience in the field, who recent retired after an illustrious career with Franklin Templeton, directing analysts based in Templeton's seventeen emerging markets offices and manages the emerging markets portfolios. He has received numerous accolades over the years, including "Emerging Markets Equity Manager of the Year 2001" by International Money Marketing, "Ten Top Money Managers of the 20th Century" in a 1999 Carson Group survey, "Number One Global Emerging Market Fund" in a 1998 Reuters Survey, "1994 First in Business Money Manager of the Year" by CNBC, "Closed-End Fund Manager of the Year" in 1993 by Morningstar, and "Investment Trust Manager of the Year 1992" by the Sunday Telegraph. He was also listed by Asiamoney as one of the "Top 100 Most Powerful and Influential People" in 2006.
He is the author various books on investing and is a regular commentator on the emerging markets on TV and in the press. He made a point of continuously traveling more than 200 days a year around the world, from one emerging market to another in search of new opportunities.

Until his recent retirement, he was the Executive Chairman of Templeton Emerging Markets Group. Prior to this, he was formerly appointed joint chairman of the Global Corporate Governance Forum's Investor Responsibility Taskforce, set up by The World Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Before joining Templeton, Mobius worked at international securities firm Vickers-da-Costa, and later was president of International Investment Trust Company in Taipei, Taiwan. He holds a PhD in Economics and Political Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Boston University.
